Aquila Longevity

General Health Screening vs Longevity Screening

A general health screening checks whether disease is already present. The Aquila Longevity Screening goes further — measuring how your body is aging before disease develops. Both have a role; here is how they compare.

What is a general health screening?

A general health screening is a diagnostic check. A standard panel of tests — typically covering cholesterol, blood sugar, liver and kidney function, and a full blood count — is compared against normal reference ranges to identify whether a disease or abnormality is already present. Results are usually reported as individual values flagged normal or abnormal.

What is a longevity health screening?

A longevity screening is a preventive assessment of aging itself. Instead of looking only for existing disease, the Aquila Longevity Screening analyses 120+ biomarkers across 16 physiological systems together using the validated PhenoAge framework — estimating your biological age, identifying which systems may be aging faster, and highlighting modifiable risk areas before disease develops.

Purpose

General: detect disease that is already present.

vs

Longevity: understand how your body is aging, before disease develops.

What you receive

General: individual lab values flagged as normal or abnormal.

vs

Longevity: a biological age estimate plus an integrated report across 16 systems.

What happens next

General: referral or treatment if an abnormality is found.

vs

Longevity: a physician-guided plan to optimise your modifiable risk areas.

Which screening is right for you — and when?

Choose a general health screening when you:

  • need a routine annual check-up or an employment / insurance medical
  • have symptoms, or a known condition your doctor is monitoring
  • want a straightforward, budget-friendly baseline of your key health markers
  • are following up on a previously abnormal result

Choose a longevity screening when you:

  • feel healthy but want to know how your body is actually aging internally
  • have a family history of chronic disease and want to act early
  • are in your 30s–50s, when preventive optimisation has the greatest long-term impact
  • want a measurable baseline — your biological age — to track how nutrition, exercise, and other interventions are working over time

It isn't either / or. The Aquila Longevity Screening already includes the core panels of a general health screening — many patients simply upgrade their annual check-up to a longevity assessment, then retest every 12–24 months to track their biological age.

The Aquila Longevity Screening program integrates multiple health domains to provide a comprehensive evaluation of long-term wellbeing.

Individuals who seek longevity screening often include:

Understanding Your Healthspan

What is biological age?

Your chronological age is simply the number of years since you were born. Biological age is an estimate of how your body is functioning relative to age, based on selected clinical biomarkers and validated ageing models.

Two people can both be 45 years old yet show different biological-age estimates because their metabolic health, inflammation, cardiovascular risk, organ function and other physiological markers may differ.

Aquila combines a biological-age estimate with a broader assessment of more than 120 biomarkers across 16 physiological systems. This allows the physician review to look beyond a single number and consider the wider health profile.

Important distinction Biological age is an estimate, not a diagnosis. The wider 120+ biomarker panel provides additional clinical context for preventive health and long-term planning.

Biological age is not always the same as calendar age

Example concept 45 Calendar age ≠ body age
Chronological age Years since birth. It always moves forward at the same rate.
VS
Biological age An estimated reflection of selected physiological health markers.

What can influence your biological-age profile?

Biological-age models reflect measured health characteristics. These characteristics may be affected by multiple aspects of health, lifestyle, genetics and medical conditions, which is why interpretation should consider the broader clinical picture.

Who May Consider It

Longevity screening is often sought by people who want a deeper health baseline.

The assessment may be relevant to people who want to understand more than whether a routine screening result falls inside or outside a laboratory reference range.

01

Proactive professionals

People who feel generally well but want a deeper baseline for long-term health planning rather than waiting for symptoms to appear.

02

Those with family risk

Individuals with a family history of metabolic, cardiovascular or other chronic conditions who want to discuss prevention earlier.

03

Health optimisers

People already working on nutrition, exercise, sleep or weight who want objective health markers that can be compared over time.

04

Beyond basic screening

Individuals looking for broader physiological insights beyond the normal / abnormal format of a conventional screening panel.

A More Complete Baseline

More than a biological-age number.

Your biological-age estimate is one component of the programme. Aquila evaluates a much broader set of biomarkers and reviews them across multiple physiological domains, helping your physician identify areas that may deserve closer attention, follow-up or optimisation.

120+ biomarkers assessed Broad clinical and longevity-focused data points.
16 physiological systems reviewed Results interpreted across multiple health domains.
5–7 days for typical results Followed by physician interpretation and discussion.

Longevity screening provides additional health information and does not guarantee prevention of disease or replace medical evaluation for symptoms or known medical conditions. Biological-age results are estimates and should be interpreted in clinical context.

Aquila Longevity

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about biological age testing, the Aquila Longevity Screening process, what is measured, and what to expect from your physician review.

What is the difference between biological age and chronological age?

Your chronological age is the number of years since birth. Biological age is an estimate derived from selected health markers that reflects aspects of how the body is functioning relative to age. Two people of the same chronological age can have different biological-age estimates because their metabolic, inflammatory and physiological profiles may differ.

What does the Aquila Longevity Screening assess?

The programme evaluates more than 120 biomarkers across 16 physiological systems, including areas relevant to cardiovascular health, metabolism, inflammation, liver and kidney function, hormonal health, fatty-acid balance, nutritional status and other ageing-related markers. The results are interpreted together rather than simply presented as isolated lab values.

How is my biological age estimated?

Aquila uses a validated biological-age framework such as PhenoAge to generate an estimate from its required clinical inputs. The wider 120+ biomarker panel is then used to provide additional context about different health domains and modifiable risk areas during your physician review.

Is this the same as a standard health screening?

No. A standard health screening is primarily designed to look for common abnormalities or existing disease risk using a core set of tests. The Aquila Longevity Screening includes broad health assessment while adding biological-age estimation and a more detailed review of physiological domains relevant to long-term health. It complements, rather than replaces, appropriate routine medical screening.

Is longevity screening useful if I already feel healthy?

It can be considered by people who feel well but want a more detailed health baseline, particularly those interested in preventive care, long-term health planning or tracking changes over time. Whether the assessment is appropriate for you should be considered in the context of your medical history and individual goals.

How often should I repeat the assessment?

There is no single interval that suits everyone. Some individuals repeat longevity testing every 12–24 months to compare trends, while a physician may suggest a different interval depending on your health profile, interventions and monitoring needs.

How long do the results take?

Results are typically available within 5–7 days after the blood draw. A physician consultation then reviews the findings, including your biological-age estimate and relevant health domains, and discusses practical next steps where appropriate.

How much does the Aquila Biological Age & Longevity Assessment cost?

The current programme fee is S$1,800 nett. This includes the comprehensive biomarker assessment, biological-age analysis and a one-to-one physician results review.

Can my biological-age estimate change over time?

Yes. Biomarkers used in biological-age models can change over time with health status, lifestyle, medical treatment and other factors. Repeat testing may therefore show a different estimate. The goal is not to chase a single number, but to understand trends alongside the broader clinical picture.

Does longevity screening diagnose or prevent disease?

Longevity screening itself does not guarantee prevention of disease and should not be treated as a substitute for appropriate medical evaluation. Its purpose is to provide additional health information that a physician can interpret in the context of preventive care and long-term health planning.

These publications support the broader scientific concepts of biological-age estimation, phenotypic ageing and multi-system physiological ageing. Different biological-age methods use different inputs and are not interchangeable. Aquila's 120+ biomarker panel provides a broader clinical assessment in addition to the specific inputs used for its biological-age calculation.
