Why The Aesthetics Firm became Aquila Medical Center

By Dr Stephen Chu · Published 2 Feb 2026 · Updated 27 Aug 2026

The name changed because the clinic had grown beyond aesthetics. The aim was to reflect a broader medical scope while keeping complete continuity for existing patients.

Aquila Medical Center rebrand

The Aesthetics Firm was this clinic’s earlier name. As the medical services expanded into preventive health, longevity assessment, minor surgery, hyperbaric medicine, acupuncture and broader primary care, the old name no longer described what the clinic actually did.

01

The name needed to catch up with the clinic

Aesthetics remains a substantial part of Aquila Medical Center, but it stopped being the only reason patients attended. Over several years the clinic expanded into health screening, chronic disease management, minor surgery and wound care, sleep and snoring assessment, weight management, longevity-focused testing, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and integrative care including acupuncture.

Keeping a name centred only on aesthetics created a practical problem rather than merely a cosmetic one. Patients who needed a mole checked, a lump removed or a health screening did not think of an “aesthetics firm” as the place to go — and referring doctors reasonably read the name the same way.

A clinic name is a filter.

It tells people which problems to bring and which to take elsewhere. When the name and the scope diverge far enough, the name starts turning away the patients the clinic is equipped to help.

02

Why the name Aquila

Aquila is Latin for eagle. The name was chosen to reflect precision, perspective and looking further ahead — qualities that apply equally to aesthetic medicine and to preventive healthcare, where the whole point is seeing something before it becomes a problem.

It is also deliberately not a specialty name. A clinic called after one service has to be renamed again the next time it grows.

The rebrand was about scope, not a break with the past.

Clinical standards, patient relationships and records continued unchanged while the public name evolved.

03

What stayed the same

Clinical continuity

Existing patient records and ongoing treatment plans remained with the same clinic. Nothing needed to be transferred or re-registered.

Location and contact

The clinic continued operating from the same Singapore CBD premises with the same patient communication channels.

Medical leadership

The doctor-led model did not change, and the clinic was not acquired or merged.

Aesthetic services

Aesthetic medicine remained a core part of the practice rather than being displaced by the newer services.

04

What the clinic covers today

The new name makes room for a patient to attend for a skin concern, return for a health screening, have a minor procedure, discuss sleep or metabolic health, or explore a longevity assessment — without any of those feeling out of place.

It also allows the website and patient education to be organised around medical needs rather than forcing every topic under an aesthetic heading.

05

What actually changed

For transparency, the practical changes were limited and mostly administrative:

  • The trading and corporate name. The clinic previously known as The Aesthetics Firm now operates as Aquila Medical Center.
  • The website domain and email addresses, with the older web presence retired.
  • Signage, documentation and receipts, which now carry the current name.
  • The service structure on the website, reorganised around clinical areas rather than a single category.

What did not change: the premises, the clinical team’s continuity, patient records, or the standard of care. This was a renaming, not a transfer of the practice to a different provider.

06

What the change means for existing patients

For anyone who knew the clinic under its former name, the point is simple: Aquila Medical Center is the continuation of the same clinic, not an unrelated new provider. Appointments, records and ongoing treatment plans carried across.

If you hold older documentation in the previous name — a receipt, a treatment record, an insurance claim form — it relates to the same practice, and the clinic can confirm that in writing where an insurer or employer needs it.

The older name appears in this article to document the history. Current public-facing pages use Aquila Medical Center.

07

If you were searching for the old name

People still search for the previous name, which is a reasonable thing to do and the main reason this article exists. If you arrived here looking for The Aesthetics Firm, you have found the right clinic.

The clinic operates from the Singapore CBD and can be reached through the contact page, which carries the current address, opening hours and appointment options, including teleconsultation.

Questions patients ask

Is Aquila Medical Center the same clinic as The Aesthetics Firm?

Yes. It is the same practice under a new name, not a different provider. The clinic was not sold, acquired or merged.

Why did the name change?

The clinic had expanded well beyond aesthetics into screening, minor surgery, longevity assessment, hyperbaric medicine, integrative care and general medical services. The old name no longer described the scope.

What does Aquila mean?

It is Latin for eagle, chosen to reflect precision, perspective and looking ahead. It was also chosen deliberately not to name a single specialty.

Are my patient records still held?

Yes. Records and ongoing treatment plans carried across unchanged. Nothing needed to be transferred or re-registered by patients.

Did the doctors change?

No. The doctor-led model continued through the rebrand, and the clinic has since added services and clinical staff rather than replacing the team.

Did the clinic move?

No. The clinic continued at the same Singapore CBD premises. Current address and hours are on the contact page.

Are aesthetic treatments still offered?

Yes. Aesthetic medicine remains a core part of the practice, alongside the newer medical, surgical and preventive services.

What happened to the old website?

The previous web presence was retired and the clinic now publishes at aquilamedicalcenter.com. Older links may no longer resolve.

My receipt or record is in the old name — is it still valid?

Yes. It relates to the same practice, and the clinic can confirm the name change in writing if an insurer or employer requires it.

Was the clinic acquired by another company?

No. This was a renaming of the existing entity, not a change of ownership or a transfer of the practice.

Does the change affect my treatment plan or pricing?

The rebrand itself did not change treatment plans. Pricing is reviewed independently of the name change and current fees are discussed at consultation.

How do I book now?

Through the contact page, which lists current appointment options including teleconsultation.
