Non-invasive skin heating in Singapore

BBL SkinTyte™ in Singapore

SkinTyte uses broadband infrared light with cooling to heat selected tissue and support gradual collagen remodelling. It is best suited to patients seeking modest improvement in mild laxity — not a non-surgical facelift and not a replacement for surgery when loose skin is significant.

This is the gentlest tightening option we offer, and that is the honest framing. It suits someone with early laxity who wants no downtime and modest change. It does not suit someone hoping to avoid an operation they actually need.

BBL SkinTyte treatment in Singapore

How SkinTyte works

SkinTyte delivers infrared light while cooling the surface. The aim is to heat deeper tissue to a therapeutic range without ablating the epidermis. This controlled thermal exposure can trigger collagen remodelling over time.

The treatment is therefore fundamentally different from pigment-focused BBL protocols. It is also different from focused ultrasound, RF microneedling and surgery, which create different depths and types of tissue effect.

The underlying principle is straightforward: collagen contracts when heated within a specific temperature range, and the resulting mild injury provokes a healing response that lays down new collagen over subsequent months. Cooling the surface is what makes this possible — it allows heat to accumulate in the dermis while the epidermis stays protected. Too little heat achieves nothing; too much causes burns. The therapeutic window is genuinely narrow, which is why treatment is delivered in multiple gentle passes rather than one aggressive one.

Realistic expectation: SkinTyte is most appropriately discussed for mild laxity and skin-quality support. Results are usually gradual and variable rather than dramatic or immediate.

Where SkinTyte may fit

Mild facial laxity

Patients with early soft-tissue laxity who prefer a low-downtime treatment may consider SkinTyte after assessment.

Neck and jawline

Selected mild laxity around the lower face and neck may be treated, but structural jowling or platysmal changes require different options.

Body skin quality

Some body areas can be treated when the concern is mild skin laxity rather than substantial skin excess.

Patients avoiding downtime

Where redness, peeling or restriction cannot be accommodated, this offers something rather than nothing.

Alongside pigment treatment

Often combined in the same visit with a colour-targeting BBL protocol, since they address different concerns.

Needle-averse patients

For those unwilling to consider microneedling or injectables, a purely light-based option has genuine appeal.

Who it does not suit: anyone with established jowling, significant skin excess after weight loss, or expectations shaped by before-and-after images promising facelift-like change. In those situations, honest advice saves money that would otherwise be spent on repeat sessions achieving little.

When another treatment may be more appropriate

Focused ultrasound

HIFU targets deeper focal tissue planes and may be considered when deeper tightening is the goal.

Compare HIFU →

Radiofrequency

RF and RF microneedling use electrical energy rather than light and may be chosen when texture, pores or dermal remodelling are also priorities.

Compare RF options →

Resurfacing

Fine lines, photodamage and texture may respond better to resurfacing when surface change is the dominant concern.

Surgery

Marked skin excess, jowling or neck laxity cannot be reliably corrected with light-based heating alone.

The pattern is consistent across the table: effect and downtime rise together. SkinTyte occupies the gentlest position, which is both what recommends it and what limits it.

What SkinTyte does not do

It does not remove fat

SkinTyte is not a fat-reduction treatment and should not be used as a substitute for body-contouring assessment.

It does not erase wrinkles

Texture and fine lines may need resurfacing, injectables or other treatments depending on their cause.

It does not lift like surgery

Thermal collagen remodelling cannot reproduce tissue repositioning from a facelift or necklift.

A useful self-test before booking any tightening treatment: lift the skin near your ear upward and backward with your fingers. If that produces the change you want, the problem is tissue position and genuine repositioning is what addresses it — not heating. If the improvement you are after is subtler than that, a device may reasonably deliver it.

What to expect during treatment

The applicator is passed over the treatment area while cooling protects the surface. Patients typically feel repeated warmth. Treatment settings depend on area, skin type, device feedback and the planned tissue temperature.

Because the epidermis is not intentionally removed, downtime is usually limited. Temporary redness, warmth, tenderness or swelling may occur.

Sensation builds through the session rather than being sharp. Most patients describe it as a spreading warmth that becomes noticeably hot toward the end of a pass, then eases — and tell the operator if it becomes genuinely uncomfortable, because that feedback is part of how safe temperature is maintained.

Potential risks

  • temporary discomfort, redness or swelling;
  • burn or blistering if excessive heat develops;
  • post-inflammatory pigmentation;
  • uneven or limited response;
  • rare textural change or prolonged sensitivity;
  • eye injury without correct protective eyewear.
Declare beforehand: recent sun exposure, photosensitising medication, recent isotretinoin, active infection or inflamed skin in the area, implanted devices, pregnancy, and any history of poor healing or keloid scarring.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly will I see SkinTyte results?

Any collagen-remodelling effect is gradual. Timing varies and treatment should not be sold as an instant lift.

How many treatments are needed?

There is no universal number. It depends on baseline laxity, treatment area, settings and response.

Is SkinTyte suitable for darker skin?

Infrared SkinTyte is designed differently from pigment-targeting BBL, but skin type and pigment history still matter. Conservative treatment and appropriate cooling remain important.

Can it treat loose neck skin?

It may help selected mild laxity. Marked neck skin excess, platysmal banding or structural jowling usually needs a different approach.

Is SkinTyte the same as Forever Young BBL?

No. Forever Young is mainly a photodamage and colour-targeting protocol, while SkinTyte uses infrared heating for mild tightening goals.

How does heating tighten skin?

Collagen contracts when heated within a specific range, and the mild injury provokes a healing response laying down new collagen over months. Surface cooling lets heat accumulate in the dermis while protecting the epidermis.

Why is it done in multiple gentle passes?

The therapeutic window is narrow — too little heat achieves nothing and too much causes burns. Gradual passes let temperature be built and monitored safely.

How do I know if a device will be enough for me?

Lift the skin near your ear upward and backward. If that produces the change you want, the problem is tissue position and repositioning is what addresses it rather than heating.

Can it be combined with other BBL protocols?

Often, in the same visit, since colour-targeting and infrared heating address different concerns using different filters and settings.

Does it hurt?

Sensation builds as spreading warmth that becomes noticeably hot toward the end of a pass, then eases. Tell the operator if it becomes genuinely uncomfortable, since that feedback helps maintain safe temperature.

Is there any downtime?

Usually minimal. Temporary redness, warmth, tenderness or mild swelling can occur and generally settle within hours to a day.

Will it help my double chin?

Not if the issue is fat. SkinTyte is not a fat-reduction treatment, and submental fullness needs body-contouring assessment instead.

Can I have it if I am pregnant?

Elective treatment is generally deferred during pregnancy, so declare it and the plan can be adjusted.

What if I have a metal implant or pacemaker?

Declare it. Light-based heating differs from radiofrequency in this respect, but any implanted device should be discussed before treatment.

Do results last?

Any effect is gradual and ageing continues, so periodic maintenance is usual rather than a one-off correction.

How soon before an event should I have it?

Because effect is gradual rather than immediate, allow two to three months if you want visible benefit by a specific date.

Is SkinTyte claimable under MediSave or insurance in Singapore?

Cosmetic treatment is generally not claimable. Check directly with your insurer if you have questions.

Is SkinTyte the right level of treatment?

Aquila Medical Center can assess whether your concern is mainly skin laxity, fat, muscle, texture or structural ageing and recommend the least intensive treatment likely to address it.

Where your laxity is beyond what a device can help, we will tell you rather than selling a course of sessions.
